San Diego Visual Arts Network
The San Diego Visual Arts Network (SDVAN) provides information to improve sophistication, and accuracy of information about San Diego's artistic and cultural life and believes that the Visual Arts are an essential part of our city. Visual arts projects can be inspired and collaborated on through the SDVAN's resource-rich website.
As artists, we believe that the arts change people's lives and expand their views. By establishing confidence in the arts, as well as disseminating information, we hope to raise the standards of writing, production, and appreciation in our region. Only this site has been designed specifically for Visual Arts in San Diego. Our mission is to provide free and high-quality service by relying on donations from people like you. SDVAN is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization.
Site features include a feature to encourage new art buyers, SmART Collector; a gossip column RAW; top picks of the month Picked RAW including Branching Out with new listings on the site, Picked RAW Peeled; and an editorial A+ Blog to inform subscribers about the site. We sponsor the San Diego Art Centre Prize and the New Contemporaries, and we support exhibitions that support local talent, including Little & Large, Movers & Shakers, and Art Meets Fashion. Through our Eat Your Art Out fundraisers, we help artists connect with patrons.
We receive over a million hits a year and have about 4,000 unique visitors per month at SDVAN. Throughout the SD region, we list over 2200 visual arts resources.
An organization's entry on the directory includes the organization's name, location, contact information (tel, fax, email, website), and mission statement. There is no printed version of the directory; it is only available online.
Site entries are made directly by those listed.
With the Events Calendar, you can find out about upcoming events and ongoing events by type and location. There are both paid and volunteer opportunities available, including grant opportunities with age and type filters. A listing of artists by name is available on SDVAN, as are their websites and gallery affiliations, as well as mediums they work in.
