MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTION RESOLUTIONS IN SAN DIEGO

Happy 2023! Here's to the yearly Get in Shape. This time for real! game. Ready to play? Seriously, though. Like you, I play this game every year. Is 2023 the year? Can these ideas help me achieve my fitness goals in San Diego? How about you? Do you have any fitness goals for 2023?

GO FOR A HIKE

San Diego has so many fantastic hiking trails for all levels. As you huff and puff, the beauty surrounding you will distract you. It is recommended to hike the Torrey Pines trails for beginners. If you are more advanced hiker, you might want to set the mission trails 5 peak challenge as your goal. Despite the fact that you might not receive a medal now, it's still a worthwhile accomplishment. For serious hikers, the San Diego gym Six Pack of Peaks is the next step up.

Using Facebook can help you find hiking buddies if you don't want to hike alone. Personally, I love hiking and try to get out on the trails as often as possible. The San Diego Six Packs of Peaks are on my bucket list for 2023. Isn't it true that writing down your goals and announcing them to the world makes them more likely to be reached? I will keep you updated about my hiking progress on the blog, so you can keep up with my progress!

FIND A PERSONAL TRAINER

Having a personal trainer works for me for some reason. Maybe it's the money you spend that gets you to the gym, maybe it's the fear of them screaming at you when you weigh in? No, but in all seriousness. The fitness experts know what they're doing and can help you achieve your fitness goals.

Find deals on Groupon if you don't want to pay sticker shock for a personal training session. Most of the time, they are present at the beginning of the year.

SPEND TIME ON THE WATER

Getting into watersports during the winter might not be the best time, but at least you won't have to compete with crowds on the trails. Can you imagine kayaking or paddle boarding? You should be able to stay relatively dry once you figure out what you're doing. As a new watersporter, I appreciate that San Diego offers so many options like Mission Bay and San Diego Bay.

GET A FITNESS TRACKER

In the last few years, I have really noticed the difference in my health thanks to my fitness tracker. As a result, I often take Robby for extra walks at night or jog around the living room when I'm really desperate. Nevertheless, every step counts, right?

SEARCH FOR NEW RUNNING AND BIKING ROUTES

Changing scenery can be very helpful. Running routes, trail runs, and bike paths are available throughout San Diego County at all levels. There is something to distract and make your workout session so much more enjoyable, whether you are running or biking through downtown or outdoors in nature.

FIND A FITNESS BUDDY

You are more likely to show up if you make a commitment to someone else as well as yourself. There is no way you can let your friend down when they are waiting for you at the gym or the trailhead.

When you hit a low point or celebrate your successes, it is nice to have someone who can give you a pep talk. Having a bit more experience can help you learn a lot too. When you first go to unfamiliar places (like the gym) or places where you don't know anyone (like your first race), it's a lot less intimidating. Now that you have found a training partner, get started!

FIND THE PERFECT GYM

I have to admit. It's not my thing to go to the San Diego gym. At least not anymore. During those weeks when I met with a personal trainer once a week, I felt fit and saw results. My cardio and weightlifting workouts made a big difference, so I kept going. Several months later, I ran my first 5k. Then a 10k. My wagon fell off and I landed on the couch. Funny how that happens

THE POWER OF YOGA & MEDITATION

The mind is often forgotten when we plan to get fit. Your workout can be more productive if you meditate. Strengthening your mind will prepare you for tough workouts or when everything doesn't go as planned. I love the Headspace App. Beginner and advanced meditation courses are available, including walking meditations and other fitness-specific meditations.

As well as getting your body and mind in shape, yoga is also a great exercise. The practice of Tai Chi strengthens your muscles, makes you more flexible, and teaches you how to control your breathing. Yoga can burn more than 500 calories per hour if you choose vigorous forms, such as Vinyasa or Hot Yoga.
