SAN Bike Guide
You can ride a bike to San Diego International Airport (SAN)! You only need to know where and how to properly stow your bike and follow some safety tips while on the airport campus to make it happen. I've put together a quick guide for you:
CAN YOU BIKE TO THE AIRPORT?
SAN is an ideal destination for day travelers who only have a backpack for carry-on luggage, as well as airport employees and contractors who are done with their work by that afternoon. In order to relieve congestion along our already congested roads, the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority encourages public transit, carpooling, and bicycling. There are bike racks on all San Diego Flyer and Rental Car Center shuttles, as well as on the MTS trolley and 992 bus.
DO YOU HAVE A PARK FOR BIKES?
A bike locker system was installed on the airport campus in 2011 for the use of the public. As of now, SANDAG has provided two stainless steel bicycle lockers that are available for bicycle storage. We have more than 100 bicycle parking spaces. You can use these lockers overnight for a $25 refundable key deposit. Up to four bicycles can fit in each locker.

The steel circles of our bike racks can be customized to match your own personal bike lock if you prefer. You can choose from red or black racks. While using them, ideally you should park your bike perpendicular to them (in between) and not parallel. The USO Center, Terminal 2, and SAN's Rental Car Center all have them.
ARE THERE BIKE LANES?
Use Harbor Drive's bike lanes to get to the San Diego airport in record time or take advantage of the beautiful scenery on nearby Spanish Landing Trail and walk your bike when you arrive.
In addition to additional parking spaces, we will create a pedestrian and bicycle path at our new T1. At SAN, scooters and skateboards are not allowed, despite our encouragement of micro-mobility. Enjoy your trip to SAN on wheels.
